Dr. Sylvia Fitting, an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience, is the recipient of a 2016 UNC Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) grant.

The UNC Center for AIDS Research’s Developmental Core provides mentoring support for junior investigators who are interested in pursuing an HIV research career. The Developmental Core provides funding of up to $30,000 for one year of HIV research to junior investigators, experienced investigators new to HIV, and experienced HIV investigators with new ideas. Research can be basic, translational, clinical, or social/behavioral, and can address treatment, transmission, or prevention.

Dr. Fitting received a total award of $30,000 (over one year) for her project, “Neuroprotective Potential of Endocannabinoids in a Model of NeuroAIDS.”
