Dr. Regina Carelli, a Stephen B. Baxter Distinguished Professor of Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience, and the Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience (BIN) Program have received a 2020 training grant renewal through the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, through its T32 Predoctoral Training in Addiction Science grant, offers our graduate students pre-doctoral training in research on addiction science and interdisciplinary graduate training in research areas related to drug and alcohol abuse. The Department has been supported by this training grant since 1990, and with this grant renewal, will hold the grant with continued funding for 35 years, an impressive achievement!

The objective of this program continues to be the preparation of predoctoral students for research careers. Training laboratories are located at several sites at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, including the Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience, Pharamcology, and Psychiatry, Neurobiology, and Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies.

Dr. Carelli and the BIN Program received a total award of over $1.7 million (over 5 years) to assist with predoctoral training in addiction science.
