Dr. Kathryn Reissner, an Associate Professor of Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience, is the recipient of a 2021 R21 grant by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse R21 Exploratory/Developmental Grant program supports exploratory and high-risk research projects that fall within the National Institutes of Health mission by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of these projects. These studies may involve considerable risk but may lead to a breakthrough or to the development of novel techniques, agents, methods, measures, models, or strategies, or to the generation of pilot or feasibility data.

Dr. Reissner was awarded over $405,000 (over two years) for her project, “Novel cellular markers of drug-mediated calcium signaling in astrocytes.”
